Fix orientation in one tap
Sideways scans, upside-down product shots and slightly tilted horizons are some of the most common photo annoyances. The rotate tool sorts them out without opening a full editor.
What you can do
- Rotate 90° left or right for photos taken with the phone turned.
- Rotate 180° for anything that ended up upside down.
- Rotate by any angle with the slider to straighten horizons, buildings or documents.
- Flip horizontal to mirror a selfie or face a subject the other way in a layout.
- Flip vertical for reflections and creative effects.
Straightening tips
Find a line that should be level — the sea, a tabletop, a window frame — and adjust until it matches. Most tilted photos are only 1–3 degrees off, so small moves go a long way. For buildings, line up the vertical edges instead.
Angled rotation leaves corners outside the photo. If you’re straightening, take the result to the image cropper to trim them away. If you’re rotating for a design, keep them transparent and save as PNG.
Saving the result
A plain 90° or 180° turn keeps every pixel, so you lose nothing. When rotating by a custom angle, save as PNG if you want transparent corners, or pick a fill colour that matches your background — white for documents, black for a dramatic frame. Saving a fresh copy also fixes photos that show up sideways on certain websites.
Flipping a photo with writing in it will reverse the text, so double-check before posting. Once it’s the right way round, the photo filters tool can finish the look. Everything happens in your browser, so nothing you edit is uploaded.
Rotate & Flip FAQ
Why is my photo sideways when I upload it?
Phones often save photos as they were held and add a note telling apps which way is up. Some websites ignore that note. Rotating here and saving a fresh copy bakes the correct orientation into the image itself.
How do I straighten a crooked horizon?
Use the angle slider and move it a degree or two at a time until the horizon lines up. Then crop away the corners with the image cropper.
What happens to the corners when I rotate by an angle?
The canvas grows to fit the turned picture, leaving empty corners. You can keep them transparent (save as PNG or WebP) or fill them with any colour.
How do I mirror a selfie?
Use flip horizontal. Front cameras often save a mirrored image, so text on a T-shirt or sign reads backwards — one flip fixes it.
Is anything uploaded?
No. Rotating and flipping happen in your browser on your own device.
